Two records I nearly wore out as a teen were REO Speedwagon’s High Infidelity and You Can Tune a Piano But You Can’t Tuna Fish. I loved the energy, honesty, and spark of light behind their music. Music, like our yoga, moves us from the inside out. REO (and a few others) moved me as a kid, but I’m not sure I knew it at the time.
A few mornings ago, my friend David Hoffmeister mentioned the band’s spiritually uplifting vibes, and I’ve been playing their music repeatedly since. Check out these titles: Keep On Loving You, Can’t Fight This Feeling, and Time For Me To Fly. It’s easy to classify them according to the musical genre and judge them as sappy or idealistic, but open your mind, cue them up and let their music move you! Dancing may be inspired but not required 🙂
If you cue up the music, let the words speak to you in general, universal terms.
Spirit speaks to us and through us constantly. The question is, do we hear it? Do a little research on REO, and you’ll see how Spirit spoke to them and through them for all! With the highs and lows of being a rock and roll band, REO had to do their (healing) yoga along the way, the same as you and me! No matter who we are in form, our life is the perfect classroom to learn to choose the teacher of Love. We can fight the feeling, but it comes with a cost. Resist the changes; we get stuck and forget we’re here to learn to fly.
Regardless of our time in life, Now is the time to fly! But soar in your mind first. Free your mind of the past, let Spirit shine through, and the body will follow. All these years, that’s what the body has done. It follows the ego, unhealed mind, or Spirit, the Healed Mind. Always one or the other and never both simultaneously. It’s impossible to serve two masters.
Avita Yoga and Meditations will first lead you to the healing power of choice in mind. Let everything you see, sense, and do point you toward your healed mind. This inner movement is the yoga that allows us to roll with the changes from a place of constant stillness. Thus, we use the body as a means for communication, not an end of its own.
Enjoy this moving meditation, and we’ll Roll With the Changes together!
With love,
Jeff
