Dear Friends,

There’s big news to share–a time of transition for our community and me.

After a decade in the yoga business, it’s time for me to divest and move away from the responsibility of leasing such a space in Boulder, CO. It has been a powerful chapter of my life, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Getting to know many of you and sharing different yoga methods in this beautiful location has been immensely rewarding and in many ways, I have felt more like a steward than an owner.

Yoga Loft was built to be a sanctuary for peace and practice for all who walk through the door. It was a springboard for all who taught there to use it to develop their dharma and further themselves on their journey to teach and share. Yoga Loft has provided all that and more, and I hope you were able to enjoy it as part of your healing journey. The tagline, “come grow with us,” has indeed worked.

Covid brought challenge and transformation. It allowed us to reevaluate and redirect our lives. Some of you know how hard we tried to maintain the space, but nothing seemed to stick. The signs and symbols have consistently pointed us in a new, somewhat unknown direction. It culminated a couple of weeks ago when Lori and I went on a two-week meditation retreat in Mexico. I brought my question and got a clear answer: Yoga Loft has been maximized. We rode a beautiful wave together, and I’m grateful you have given me the opportunity to share the gift of yoga.

I’m grateful for all teachers and staff who have shared their gifts at Yoga Loft and made it a safe and fun place to practice. Teachers: Sarah Hathaway, Nicole Olalla, Mercury Roberts, Ingrid DiPaula, Laurel Fiddler. Cleaning crew: Brenda Graham and Debbie Follenweider. Front Desk helpers Leslie Wing-Pomeroy, Audrey Davis, and long-term all-around helper and customer support person Pippa Swannell. Thank you all, along with many others who have graced this space over the years–nothing but love to you all.

I am selling the studio, but I am not retiring from teaching. I will be maintaining online teaching for Avita Yoga, and I hope you will continue to practice with me. Our last class together in the studio will be on Friday, April 15th, at 9:15 AM. I will also be teaching and holding a closing circle for Q&A on Thursday, April 14th, at 6:00 PM. Whether you have been to the studio recently or not, please come and help us all transition. Many of you have requested the intimate online yoga classes we offered during the covid sheltering. You may recall I taught from our home with Lori as my student. It was powerful, and I’m happy to say that we are going back to that style of online presence.

Technology has evolved, and there are new ways to interact through the Union platform. I will be continuing the progression of Avita Yoga with four live classes per week. MWF at 9:15 AM and Sacred Sundays at 10:00 AM. The new name describes the powerful, non-physical part of the practice that comes through on Sundays. Of course, all will be recorded and available as Replays in our On-Demand library.

Here’s the new fee structure:
Livestream Drop-In $15
Sacred Sundays Drop-In $25

3 Subscription Options
$59 Replay Library Pass
$79 Practice Pass – All Live Streaming weekday classes + Replay Library
$99 Dedicated Practice Pass – Sacred Sundays + all Live Streaming weekday classes + Replay Library

Here are some answers to questions you may have:

Will you continue teaching?

Yes. I will continue with four Livestream classes per week: MWF at 9:15 AM and Sundays at 10:00 AM (all Mountain Time). If you are local, you will have the option to practice in person with Jeff on a limited basis. Of course, private sessions will be available both in-person and online.

What will happen to my membership or class pack?

If you have the Ultimate Membership, it will automatically reduce to $99, which means you will receive a discount between now and April 15th. It will be easy to cancel or change your membership after the 15th. If you have a class pack credit, we’ll convert it to online credits, and you can reach out via email on how to use those credits for future classes. If you have an online Replay membership, it will stay the same.

What is the future of Yoga Loft?

I am pleased to announce that Nicole and Gerry Wienholt will be the new stewards of this beautiful space. They and their teachers have a passion for yoga and the community it fosters. With Yoga Pod as the new name, it will become a thriving asset for South Boulder to enjoy.

What are you doing with the yoga materials and props?

Yoga materials have increased in cost since Covid due to supply and demand issues. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up nicely used bolsters, straps, blocks, and sandbags. We’ll be selling them over the next couple of weeks. Sorry, we can’t ship, so if you live near Yoga Loft in Boulder, come to a class and choose from our inventory.

  • Filled sandbags: $15 ($20 unfilled online)
  • Yoga mats: $15 ($20 online)
  • Blocks: $10 each ($40 for a pair online)
  • Blankets: $5 ($20 online)
  • Bolsters: $40 small, $60 medium, and $80 large. You’ll find these bolsters online starting at $115, but there is nothing like a well-used bolster. Better than new! It’s nice to have two, and in my opinion, at least one belongs in every living room.
  • Straps: $10
  • Yoga Loft and Avita T-shirts: $5
  • Yoga Loft Sweatshirts: $10
  • Yoga Pants: $10

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share. It has been a joy and privilege to provide Yoga Loft as a space for you to practice. May we all continue to grow and heal together in Spirit, wherever we are and however we practice.

With love and light,
Jeff
